Tucker Family Cemetery
The Tucker Family Cemetery is believed to be the final resting place for William Tucker, the first documented African baby born in English North America. The historic cemetery also contains the graves of Tucker family descendants and other African Americans who have died over the past centuries. Tucker’s descendants established the William Tucker 1624 Society, named for the year of Tucker’s birth to indentured servants near Jamestown, to preserve his legacy, educate the public, and maintain the family cemetery.
