Scotchtown was the home of the fiery orator and patriot Patrick Henry from 1771 to 1778. Although Henry lived in the home with his first wife Sarah only a short time, it is the only original home of Henry’s still available to visit. More importantly it was while he lived here that Henry formulated his most provocative thoughts on the American Revolution, including the famous “Give Me Liberty or Give Me Death” speech he proclaimed at St. John’s Church in Richmond in March 1775.
